Crust Liverpool

Eat your crust!!!

Happy Sunday everyone!

Last week, I was invited down to dine at Crust, which is based on Bold Street in Liverpool. I have never ate there before so was delighted when I received the invitation, as I have heard so many amazing reviews!

So Friday evening came and my partner and I got ready for our date night and headed down to Crust.
On arrival, we where greeted by the manager of Crust who was so welcoming. He took us over to the bar where we started our evening with a drink. There was so many drinks available on the menu, that me being the indecisive person I am, let my partner choose a cocktail for me. I ended up having the 'Pornstar Martini', which came with a shot of prosecco! Whilst Neil opted for the 'Krombacher Pils Bier'.

Shortly after we received our drinks, we where taken to our table by a lovely waiter called Pepe. He ran through the menu before leaving us to get settled in. The atmosphere in Crust was a mix of excitement and chill. Looking through the menu, we decided to go for two different dishes and share.

For starters, we opted for garlic bread, 'Prawns' and 'Prosciutto Di Parma'. Wow! When the starters arrived, I wondered how we were ever going to fit our mains in! The garlic Bread was warm, doughy and the garlic was just right! We are big garlic lovers so the more garlic the better. The Prawns where served in garlic butter, and came on Tuscan bread with Cherry tomatoes. They where delicious! The prawns and the garlic worked so well with the tang of the tomato and crisp of the Tuscan bread. Lastly, The 'Prosciutto Di Parma' came out with three generous slices of parma ham, and a huge serving of Buffalo Mozzarella. Now, I am not usually a fan of Mozzarella but this tasted so good!

By this point, we needed a breather, so we had a few minutes break before settling on our mains. I have heard so many good things about Crust's 'black dough' so I definitely wanted a main with that included. I eventually, with a lot of back and forth, decided on the 'Black Volcano'.
'Black Vulcano 9.50

Using a new vegetable black dough to create this volcano-shaped calzone with tomato, for di latte mozzarella, cooked ham, mushrooms & spinach'
Neil opted for the five grain base Picante;
Piccante 8.00
Tomato, fior di latte mozzarella, chicken breast marinated in our own spicy sauce, jalapeño & sweetcorn

Our eyes were most certainly too big for our stomachs! As the mains arrived, what got put down in front of me, can only be described as a home made pizza volcano. IT. WAS HUGE! As soon as I took a bite, the different flavours erupted in my mouth, making my taste buds dance! The flavours worked well however the black dough was just delicious. It had almost a sweet taste to it? Usually I find myself leaving the crusts on pizza, but I was reaching for more with this! Neil's pizza came out and looked so fresh and colourful! With a thin five grain base, your taste buds got more flavour from the topping. I sometimes find with thick pizza bases, you loose the flavour of the actual pizza topping, which is why this was a big win! Of course, we done our usual of swapping dishes but we could not finish them.

On finishing with our stomachs twice the size, our waiter boxed the remains of our Pizza up for us to take home, which was a lovely surprise!

If you haven't been to Crust yet, then you need to head down there! With a buzzing atmosphere, friendly staff and the most delicious food, what are you waiting for? Oh! They do Deliveroo too!
